Dr. Auth came to Colorado in 1987 seeking adventure. While there he became a professional high diver and aquatic entertainer with The Great American High Dive Team, based out of Miami, FL. He was fortunate to perform all over the United States and in several other countries as a world-class high diver.

After a series of injuries, Dr.Auth returned home to pursue a chiropractic career. Chiropractic was the most effective form of treatment allowing for his activity level.

Dr.Auth attended the University of Central Oklahoma where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. In 1995, he received his Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) from Parker College of Chiropractic, in Dallas, Texas.

After graduating from Chiropractic College and passing rigorous state and national board exams, Dr.Auth moved back to Summit County. Auth Chiropractic Center was established in October 2000.

The focus on his practice is promoting health, athletic enhancement, and wellness. His practice is open to new patients and those wishing to be at their optimal level. "Many patients are motivated by their pain or ailments," says Dr.Auth. "Chiropractic can help to reestablish the subtle bio-energies of the body. The National Repertory Orchestra

A preeminent intensive fellowship that equips young musicians for orchestral music careers while providing the highest-level of musical experience for all stakeholders.

- Nurturing the Future of Music -

The NRO is a non profit organization whose major program is an 8 week fellowship program for the most promising young orchestral musicians. Alumni currently perform in virtually every major orchestra in the US and in orchestras world-wide. Each summer, 89 musicians are chosen in a nationwide audition tour to participate in an intense symphonic orchestral experience.

The NRO performs two full orchestra concerts each week in Breckenridge's beautiful Riverwalk Center between mid-June and early-August. In addition, members of the NRO take part in smaller chamber concerts during the festival, and the full orchestra plays at several other locations in the state. Throughout the summer a full range of symphonic literature is performed; the equivalent of a full symphony season!

The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival was incorporated in 1987 as a public 501 (c) 3 Colorado non-profit corporation. HISTORY

Paul and Lourdes Ferzacca bought La Tour in 1998 with the goal of turning it into the best French restaurant in the Vail Valley. Paul is the executive chef and is assisted in the kitchen by Chef Nicole Pederson. Lourdes works the front of the restaurant, meeting and greeting guests, creating a superior dining environment with the help of General Manager Ward Mack.

The Vail Recreation District is dedicated to providing the community with a wide array of recreational activities. Although we charge fees to cover most of our programming, we are determined to keep costs low for you, the customer. We also offer grants and scholarships for all of our youth programs and free programming to our adult volunteers.

Feel free to contact us at any time to discuss grants, employment, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities with any of our branches. The VRD thrives because of its relationship with the Vail Valley.

The VRD Resident Identification Card permits the holder use of facilities and program participation at discounted rates. Presentation of the card at the time of registration or admission/use is required in order to qualify for district rates. Residents who do not present a VRD ID Card will be charged the out-of-district rates.

Aside from Town of Vail residents, Beaver Creek has "bought in" to VRD programs, therefore allowing their residents to pay in-district rates for youth programs and youth sports camps only.

This statement is the guiding principle behind RFTA’s ambition to use renewable fuels whenever possible, conserve regional environmental resources, make bus travel times competitive with the personal vehicle and help maintain a great quality of life in the Roaring Fork Valley.

RFTA replaces about 100,000 gallons of oil-based petroleum products with biofuels each year. For comparison, the City of Aspen and Pitkin County, combined, used 115,629 gallons of conventional fuel in 2004, according to the Canary Initiative’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory.

As of Summer 2007, RFTA has 11 hybrid buses on the road, making us one of the leaders in hybrid technology in the State of Colorado and one of the cleanest and greenest fleets in the Western U.S.

After experimenting with B5 in 2004 and B10 in 2006, we are currently running B20 in all of the Diesel buses and E10 in all of the gasoline trucks during the summer months.

It is important to remember that any type of biofuel usage pales in comparison to simply reducing personal cars by using public transit.

The Texan propietors, long time visitors to Vail, wanted to bring a taste of their favorite Tex-Mex food to the Valley. With recipes and good old-fashioned hospitality in mind, they set out to find a location that would lend itself to the cuisine and atmosphere that they had in mind.

MANGO'S MOUNTAIN GRILL

For a long time, Mango's was just a tiny eatery with a bar and a few tables. People playing in the surrounding wilderness area would stop in to refuel on its famous fish tacos. The building was razed a couple of years ago, and in late August, Mango's reopened two levels higher and a whole lot snazzier. Since then, Mango's has extended the small corner stage on its second level into one that stretches across the width of the room. It's also installed a state of the art sound and lighting system.

"We offer a comparable venue to 8150 or Belly Up in Aspen," said Tricia Brumit, who books music and handles marketing for Mango's. "Bands won't be disappointed with the quality of sound or service."

A humble fungus takes the spotlight at La Tour: the mushroom. “Every Monday we purvey local, domestic and European imported mushrooms to make an exquisite wild mushroom menu,” says chef and owner Paul Ferzacca.

It’s that unexpectedness that makes dining at La Tour unique. Illinois native Ferzacca has designed the restaurant’s “new French-American” cuisine to be lighter and healthier than standard French fare, and weekly rotating menus like the wild mushroom menu or the Colorado-Grown Special keep diners guessing. But traditionalists need not fear: If the classics are what you crave, La Tour can satisfy. Ferzacca’s recommendation: “Lobster bisque or our house salad, mixed greens with toasted goat cheese and whole grain mustard vinaigrette; then have the Dover Sole Meunier with baby creamer potatoes, haricots verts and lemon brown butter sauce and finish with our flaming crème brûlée.”

Like his restaurant, Ferzacca is multifaceted: He opened an Italian restaurant, Zacca Za, in Avon in January 2007. Five Spice Asian Bistro is set to open in early 2008.

2) BOB BURDEN, EXECUTIVE CHEF BEAVER RUN RESORT,

SUMMIT COUNTY

Bob Burden learned his trade one lesson at a time. As a breakfast cook early in his career, he was fascinated by the chefs who ran his kitchen. “I started writing everything down and made a career out of picking the minds of every chef I knew,” says the Roswell, New Mexico, native.

Today, after culinary school and more than 20 years in the industry, it’s Burden who’s sharing information with eager learners at Beaver Run’s monthly cooking classes. Guests receive instruction in a five-course menu, then enjoy the meal complete with wine pairings.

The inquisitive nature that inspired Burden early in his career keeps him exploring today, trying new foods and new experiences. A trip to Thailand inspired Thai Cedar Planked Salmon, available now at Spencer’s, Beaver Run’s flagship restaurant. “We start the salmon on the grill to get a nice crust then turn it over on a cedar plank brushing it with hoison sauce that has been seasoned with lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf and galangal root,” Burden says. “What you end up with is the essence of smoking cedar and a sweet spicy glaze.”

3) RYAN HARDY EXECUTIVE CHEF THE LITTLE NELL HOTEL ASPEN

When you visit Montagna, one of the dining opportunities at the Little Nell Hotel, don’t expect to see tomatoes in winter. Ryan Hardy won’t allow it. He’s created a food philosophy that depends on fresh, local ingredients, all in season.

It’s a passion that goes back to his childhood in Lexington, Kentucky. “My mom is a talented cook,” he says, and the Hardy kitchen was full of homemade goodies like biscuits, pies and jams. “These were things that I thought were reality everywhere — but then (in adulthood) I realized they weren’t reality anywhere,” he says. “It was disconcerting: The traditions were being lost that I had learned in my childhood.”

He’s kept those traditions going in his two years at the Little Nell, emphasizing the “peasant traditions” that he loves. The menu features housemade cheeses, pastas and charcuterie, and in 2007 he bought an organic farm, which provides many of the ingredients for the Little Nell’s kitchen — produce, eggs, chicken and pork, to name a few. Guests can enjoy those ingredients on the “farmhouse menu,” a three-course meal in which every ingredient is local. At $39, it proves that good food doesn’t have to break the bank.

The Colorado State Patrol was established in 1935 as a division of the Colorado Department of Highways. The agency was originally known as the Colorado State Highway Courtesy Patrol. It was one of only four law enforcement agencies then existing in the state of Colorado.
